Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s first season starts on November 6, bringing a new DMZ location, Multiplayer additions and Warzone integration. Activision’s October 28 announcement puts the update at midnight Eastern Time across platforms, which converts to 07:00 SAST on November 6.
Halloween starts before Season 1
There is something to play before that rollout. Possession is scheduled for October 29, followed by Infected on October 30. Possession sends players into an eliminated opponent’s position and hands them that opponent’s loadout, making each successful attack a potential change of plan. Shipment has already joined the preseason rotation.
Season 1 also introduces Gauntlet 1v1 through the Wager Match event. Players compete using trophies; Activision specifies that participation does not offer money or items of real-world value.
Warzone players will get a separate briefing on November 2. Hajin and Zodiac are the new maps announced so far, alongside returning Verdansk and Rebirth Island. That forthcoming roadmap should provide the fuller picture rather than leaving players to assume every detail is already confirmed.
Launch maps and the midseason split
The launch Multiplayer lineup includes Backstab, Canyon and a reworked Shoot House set amid snowy North Korean terrain. Grind brings back dog-tag collection and banking, while Drop Zone focuses teams on holding an objective where Killstreak packages arrive.
Ministry and Overflow belong to the midseason update, as does Counter Attack, a mode built around attacking an enemy communications station while defending your own. They should not be mistaken for November 6 additions.
DMZ’s X01 weapons facility introduces enclosed routes, changing hazards and extraction pressure. New orders and equipment add reasons to explore, but the announcement keeps some of the facility’s contents under wraps.
The Battle Pass adds the Cronen Osprey assault rifle and CSG-35 SMG. Its linear progression spans 100 tiers, with a catch-up feature for purchasers of the premium pass. Players who fall behind can catch up to the reward corresponding to the season’s current day, capped at day 50. That paid benefit should not be confused with free access to the entire pass.
