PlayStation is bringing a familiar bit of gaming nostalgia to its latest PS5 accessories. The newly announced Prism Collection pairs transparent DualSense wireless controllers with matching console covers in Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray.

Revealed on 28 October, the collection takes inspiration from the see-through designs of the late 1990s. The glossy finishes let the hardware become part of the look, with each controller featuring a clear back and metallic middle cover. Flare Orange is the bold option, Emerald Green adds a brighter splash of colour, and Graphite Gray keeps things more understated.

The appeal is easy to understand if transparent tech still has a place in your heart. Matching a controller to your console gives the whole setup a coordinated look, while the three colour choices leave room for different tastes.

Preorders and international pricing

The rollout starts on 4 February 2027, with preorders opening on 10 November 2026 at 10am local time in participating markets. The US preorder time is 7am PT or 10am ET. PlayStation cautions that launch dates and availability will vary by region.

International recommended retail prices are US$84.99, €84.99 or £74.99 for a DualSense controller, and US$74.99, €74.99 or £64.99 for the console covers. The Japanese prices are ¥12,480 and ¥9,980 respectively, including tax.

Console covers will be exclusive to PlayStation Direct in supported markets. In other regions, limited quantities are planned through selected retailers, so availability will depend on where you shop.

What this means for South Africa

There is no confirmed South African price or local release date in the announcement. The February rollout and international prices should therefore be treated as overseas reference points, not a confirmed local launch or rand pricing.

South African buyers should also check the console covers’ exact model compatibility before ordering. Compatibility with PS5 Pro has not been established here, so a matching colour alone is not enough to choose the right cover.

For now, the Prism Collection gives PS5 players three new looks to consider, with local stock and pricing still to be confirmed.
