BLESS is coming to Crunchyroll in January 2027. The streaming service announced the pickup on 22 October, with a territory list covering the world except Japan and China. South Africa falls within that announced scope.

An exact premiere day and South African streaming time have not been announced in the source. For now, January is the window to put on your watchlist, not a confirmed appointment. Source: Crunchyroll’s streaming announcement.

A story about makeup, modelling and finding confidence

Based on Yukino Sonoyama’s manga, BLESS follows Aia, who wants to become a makeup artist, and Jun, a classmate with modelling ambitions. A school fashion contest gives the pair a chance to work together and pursue the interests they have been reluctant to show other people.

A-1 Pictures is producing the adaptation, with Shotaro Kitamura directing. Aniplex’s official series page already listed January 2027 for the Japanese television broadcast, so this week’s streaming news should not be confused with the first reveal of the anime. Source: Aniplex’s BLESS series page.

A new character preview is also out

Aniplex published a character video for Hikaru Oya on 22 October and announced Tarusuke Shingaki in the role. You can watch that official preview below. Source: Aniplex’s character announcement.

One to add to your January watchlist

If you enjoy coming-of-age stories centred on a creative partnership, the premise offers a different kind of competition from a conventional battle series. We have kept this introduction to the official setup, without later story spoilers.

The key update for local viewers is the announced Crunchyroll territory coverage. It does not mean episodes are available now, and the announcement does not establish a specific South African dub schedule. Those details still need to be confirmed closer to release.
