Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game has received its Avatar State patch on Xbox Series X|S, bringing rebuilt versions of Avatar Aang and Nightmare Korra alongside changes across the roster. Gameplay Group announced the update on 30 October.

Aang and Korra get more than a new look

Both fighters have new artwork, attacks and super moves. The wider update also redesigns menus and the match interface, introduces Ranked Mode 2.0 and rebalances every character.

For returning players, the important question is how a familiar fighter now behaves. A few training matches before heading back into ranked play are a sensible way to check old habits against the new version. This is a news report on the developer’s changes, not a hands-on verdict on the balance.

More ways to learn

Story Mode+, selectable story difficulty, tutorials and Combo Trials are included. Story stages can also be used in Versus.

Those additions give newcomers several places to practise without immediately treating ranked matches as a tutorial. Pick a character you enjoy, work through the learning options and then decide whether the competitive mode is where you want to spend your time.

Eligible players can vote for a DLC fighter

Pre-order customers and Deluxe Edition owners can vote through the main menu for the fifth Year 1 Pass character. The candidates are Tenzin, Kuvira, Amon, King Bumi and Asami Sato. Gameplay Group says voting runs for one month.

Check your edition’s entitlement in-game before buying an upgrade specifically to vote. The announcement uses US-dollar prices; we have not verified a South African rand price and are not converting those figures into a local offer.

Read Gameplay Group’s official Xbox Wire breakdown for the detailed changes and developer demonstrations. Featured and body artwork are official assets supplied with that announcement. For another animation-and-gaming crossover, see the newly announced Death Stranding Isolations anime.
