Kings Canyon is getting a Halloween makeover. Apex Legends’ Blood Pact event is scheduled for 13 October to 3 November 2026, sending squads into Wildcard with a choice between Beast and Demon powers. EA’s event announcement, published on 8 October, confirms the dates and the two factions.
For South African players planning a session, the official announcement does not specify an unlock hour. Check the event’s availability in the client before getting the squad together. The confirmed date is useful; an assumed SAST rollout time would not be.
Choose the powers that suit your squad
Blood Pact awards faction Wild Cards through match challenges, including damage and knockdowns. The Beast selection favours movement and aggression: Evasive Maneuvers adds speed with weapons stowed and a double jump, Fast Draw speeds up reloads and Shield Cells, and Critical Roll grants temporary critical hits after reloading.
Demons lean towards staying power. Speedy Charge accelerates Tactical and Ultimate recharge, Shields Up provides Epic-level shields, and Super Cells restores all shield health with a Shield Cell. These are the published effects, not a ranking of which faction will dominate once players get their hands on the event.
Our read of those abilities: discuss your approach before the first fight. A squad that wants to push openings quickly may prefer the Beast tools, while one built around surviving pressure may find the Demon options more appealing. Treat that as a starting point for experimenting, rather than a guaranteed winning combination.
Wildcard is the place to look
EA’s game-mode guide places Wildcard under Freestyle. It is designed around shorter matches, with 30 players and a typical duration of roughly 15 minutes. Looting and inventory management are simplified to keep players moving through fights.
The guide also describes out-of-combat healing, a starting self-revive kit and revivals while a teammate survives, up to the final Ring. For returning players, that is useful context: do not carry every expectation from a standard Ranked session into this playlist. Read the current mode rules when you queue, especially during an event.
Fog changes the way Kings Canyon feels
As AltChar’s event report explains, fog can obscure parts of the map and reduce visibility. Rev Shell Grenades return alongside haunted buildings, glowing Nessies, special Loot Bins and pumpkin-styled EVO Orbs.
That suggests a simple adjustment for the first few games: keep squad communication clear and avoid assuming a quiet-looking route is empty. Shorter sightlines can make a familiar area feel different even when you recognise the terrain. We will need live play to judge how strongly it changes the flow of fights.

Skins and recent fixes
The event store features a werewolf look for Sparrow, a demonic Alter skin and an R-99 weapon skin. Cosmetics are a separate shopping decision from trying the mode; check the actual offers in your client before spending.
Returning players should also note Respawn’s 9 October update on Steam. The developer reported fixes for weapon exploits, including abnormal Sentinel and C.A.R. firing behaviour. A separate matchmaking test extends maximum waits for Platinum-and-higher players to pursue tighter skill matching. Those are dated service updates, not new Blood Pact faction abilities.
