Activision has added a mobile extra to the Modern Warfare 4 preorder package. Its 12 October announcement confirms that a digital preorder unlocks the ICR-1 Shattered Relay weapon blueprint in Call of Duty: Mobile.

If you split your gaming time between your phone and a console or PC, this is one to put on your checklist. The reward has a specific account and delivery process, so buying the game and immediately checking your mobile inventory could leave you wondering where it went.

How to qualify for Shattered Relay

  1. Link COD Mobile to the Activision account you will use for Modern Warfare 4.
  2. Preorder a digital Standard or Vault Edition by the stated 23 October deadline. Existing digital preorders qualify.
  3. Log into Modern Warfare 4 at launch on 23 October using that same Activision account.
  4. Watch COD Mobile’s in-game mailbox for the reward.

Distribution begins on 30 October and runs in phases through 30 November. Eligible players still missing the item after that date can contact Activision Support; missing-item claims must be submitted by 31 December 2026. It is a reward for COD Mobile, rather than a blueprint being promised for MW4 itself.

Campaign access and the full launch are different dates

The mobile promotion arrives as MW4 approaches release. Activision’s earlier campaign early-access announcement gives eligible digital Standard and Vault buyers access from 16 October, ahead of the full 23 October launch. That earlier date concerns the campaign; it should not be read as the release date for everything.

The publisher lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC among the launch platforms. Its early-access notice also warns that platform availability and start dates can change. Check the listing for the platform you actually intend to use.

Check the account before chasing the reward

Activision points players to its account-linking guide, which covers existing social logins and guest accounts. That guide dates back to 2020, so menu labels may differ in the current app. Use the current account settings and official support if your screen does not match.

For South African players, the practical move is to check your account now and keep the purchase confirmation somewhere easy to find. A familiar display name is not a useful substitute for checking which account is actually linked. Sort that out before launch-day excitement takes over.

If you were already planning to buy MW4, the blueprint is a welcome extra. Judge the purchase on the game and the edition you want, though. A cosmetic reward should not be the whole reason you spend your gaming budget.
