Bocchi the Rock! Hoshi no Ashiato is heading to Japanese cinemas in 2027. Aniplex announced the film on 1 November alongside a teaser and a new visual featuring Seika and Nijika Ijichi.

A South African cinema release or streaming date has not been announced in the material checked. The 2027 window should therefore not be treated as a local booking date.

A first look at the next film

The official announcement names Shin Wakabayashi as director, Erika Yoshida as screenwriter and Yukiko Horiguchi as character designer. The project is based on Aki Hamaji’s manga, published by Houbunsha.

The Japanese title is 星のあしあと, romanised here as Hoshi no Ashiato. We are keeping that title rather than presenting a translated subtitle as an official English release name.

The key visual gives the Ijichi sisters the spotlight, with a guitar case beside them in a car. It is an early promotional image, not enough on its own to establish the film’s full story. We will leave the plot speculation there.

Japan’s ticket announcement is not a South African offer

Aniplex also announced Japanese advance tickets for 6 November. That is a separate milestone from the film opening next year: advance ticket sales do not mean the film is already screening.

For South African fans, the next useful confirmation is a distributor or streaming service naming our region. Until then, there is no verified local venue, ticket price or platform to recommend. The teaser is the available first look—not a reason to buy an overseas ticket expecting local access.
